- Start with the basics. Do the images first. This seems to be a universal fit for a variety of needs, and helps with overload.
- Students should be starting from a MAGAZINE or BOOK source. For ceramics, use Ceramics Monthly or Pottery Making Illustrated. For Jewelry, use Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artist. Back issues available in the LMC.
- Find two other web sources (check the end of the article for a website, or google search 'artist name ceramics' or 'artist name jewelry'. Use content guides on main page along with artist name for more detailed searches, i.e. 'c.v. artist name'
- Record sources on works cited page
- Find and upload 6 pictures by the artist. Title them with 'artist, title, date of creation' or as much information as you can find.
- Record sources on works cited page. Keep it simple if possible by getting images from the artist's website. Then you only have one source to worry about, and you've already cited it.
- Develop 2-7 bullet points under 'Life and Work', 'Construction Methods' and 'Critique' depending on the students abilities.
- Develop into paragraph form if appropriate.
- Put works cited into MLA format if appropriate.
